RECKLESSLY CAUSE INJURY– CBD – MONDAY, 25 NOVEMBER 2019
Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man after recklessly causing injury on the route 96 tram in the CBD on Monday, 25 November 2019.
At 1.55pm, a man boarded the 96 tram at the Park St/Fitzroy St tram stop, heading towards Brunswick.
At 2.14pm, the victim boarded the same tram and after engaging in brief conversation, the man assaulted the victim eight times. The man then hoisted himself on a tram pole and kicked the victim.
The man exited the tram on Queen and Bourke Street in the CBD (tram stop 5).
The victim has a developmental disability and suffered serious facial injuries.
Police have released images of a man whom they believe may be able to assist in their inquiries.
He has a tan complexion, is aged in his 40s, with brown/grey balding hair and with a beard.
At the time of the offence he was wearing a brown, white and navy plaid shirt with black t-shirt underneath, blue denim jeans and dark shoes.
